Open Streets Day

Open Streets Day transform urban areas across Europe into venues for playing, cycling and sport to encourage citizens to #BeActive.

Open Streets Day

The Open Streets Day is one day event dedicated to providing local opportunities to people to be physically active using the public streets in urban areas.

The concept of Open Streets Day is built into the name of the project: on 22 September public streets and urban areas of European cities will be transformed into venues for recreational physical activity. Local community members are invited to take the initiative and organise events that are relevant and interesting to residents of their area. As an organiser, you are free to choose an event theme ranging from simple ideas, like rope-skipping contests, to something more elaborate like a mass participation cycling ride.

Why should you be part of the OPEN STREETS Day?

  • You will be part of a European event which raises awareness and celebrates physical activity.
  • You will help create healthier habits among members of your local community.
  • You will gain local and regional recognition through social media support.
  • Easy-to-use communication tools and marketing materials.
  • Reach out to your local community.
