#UseTheStairs for yourself and for the environment

No extra time, no gym membership and no prior plan needed. Nothing but an endorphin release at no cost to your wallet or the environment. This is #NoElevatorsDay – a global celebration created with a simple notion: encouraging people to burn calories, not electricity, by using the stairs instead of elevators.

Stair climbing is a hassle-free (and money-free!) exercise for all ages that is available anytime, anywhere – at homes, office buildings, malls or public spaces. You can burn an average of 0.17 calories per stair climbed and 0.05 calories per stair descended. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but remember that’s only a fraction worth of work and more than what you would have burned by stepping into an elevator.

Join the movement on 27 April 2022 to climb away from sedentary behaviour and step into healthier habits. Just follow these small steps that can make big differences:

  1. Find the most accessible stairs near your home, office or in your community.
  2. Think of a motivational, creative and fun way to use them.
  3. Document your MOVEs with pictures and/or videos.
  4. Share your ideas with the global social media community with the hashtags #UseTheStairs and #NoElevatorsDay.

If you want to go that extra mile and make an offline impact among your peers and communities, you can organise a flagship event in your building/office/city with press and local celebrities in attendance! Check out our resources here.

This is a risk-free investment with 100% satisfaction guaranteed! Those of us who #UseTheStairs know we are getting fitter, step by step, and are contributing to a healthier, more active planet.
