Season's greetings and happy new year! 2009

Dear members, friends and cooperation partners,

2009 has been an exceptionally vibrant year. In face of a global financial crisis, ISCA and its members have demonstrated that the world of Sport-for-All is intact and vigorously engaged in using the full potential of sport as a tool for social change.

More and more decision makers at local and national level have identified the Sport-for-All sector, as a partner that can release the Human Capital in societies – not by bringing medals, but creating healthier and more active citizens and societies.

ISCA’s health programme PATHE “Physical Activity Towards a Health Europe” has unfold widely in 2009 and counts today more than 16 partner organizations. The encouraging results will serve as a starting point for the 2010 SANTE “Sport Action NeTwork of Europe” project, including two political forums, two thematic seminars, one Sport-for-All congress. We sincerely hope to see you there.

The foundation of ISCA Europe as a privileged platform for the consultation and coordination of European Sport-for-All politics has been another important step towards an improved dialogue between sport associations and political institutions.

A great variety of youth activities, reaching from the SET training on social inclusion and youth participation in and through large-scale sports festivals, to the first edition of the Balkan Youth and Sport Forum, and the You Build! seminar fostering ISCA’s youth network extension, combined with ISCA’s representation in the Council of Europe’s Advisory Council on Youth substantiate ISCA’s commitment to youth and sport around the world.

Finally, the implementation of the MOVE2009 World Congress on Active Cities: Sport, Health and Citizenship uniting 300 sport association representatives, city administrators, political actors and urban architects had a tremendous impact on the way we can build cross-sector relationship and learn from another.

ISCA is with great delight and ambition looking forward to 2010. We hope that you and your organization will join us in one of the many activities planned within the framework of health project SANTE “Sport Action NeTwork of Europe”, the citizenship project “Sport and Cultures in Dialogue” or the multi-measure youth project fostering global dialogue in youth and sport work.

We wish you all the best for 2010 and hope that we will continue our cooperation.
