Moving People, Sharing Experience: Highlights from Wrocław, Poland
10/07/2025
From 10 to 13 June 2025, the Polish city of Wrocław became a hub for collaboration, inspiration, and movement. ISCA participated in key events highlighting the role of physical activity in education and integration, including two project meetings – SIMPAL and Global IRTS – and the national conference Moving People Moving Poland, which marked a milestone as the first local edition of ISCA’s flagship event, Moving People Moving Europe.
Moving People Moving Europe – National Milestone
ISCA’s Moving People Moving Europe is an invite-only conference that brings together leaders, innovators, and practitioners to promote physical activity as a driver of positive change in society. The aim is not just to talk about movement, but to improve practice, formulate policy, and encourage cross-sector cooperation.
Over the years, this conference has provided valuable space for dialogue and strategic collaboration between partners. Organized by V4Sport Foundation and the Krokiet and Lama Academy, the June 2025 Moving People Moving Poland event marked a new milestone by going national for the first time.
Moving Poland
Held in Wrocław, Moving People Moving Poland gathered educators, researchers, and project leaders to explore how movement can support better learning, healthier communities and strengthen school environments. One of the key focus areas was Physical Active Learning (PAL) – an innovative approach to education – with discussions and valuable insights drawn from the SIMPAL and Active Sister Schools projects.
On the first day of the conference, the opening session included the presentation of the SPARKS (ISKRA) Awards, recognizing outstanding Polish educators who use movement creatively in the classroom. Forty of the recognized teachers also received a special reward — invitations to this year’s MOVE Congress, taking place from 29–31 October in Copenhagen. With their participation, Poland is sure to be well-represented at this year’s event.
On the second day, participants took part in hands-on workshops and group discussions around the role of movement in education. Topics included integrating PAL into curricula, measuring impact in schools, and practical tools from the SIMPAL project. The event created space for peer learning and inspiration among teachers, trainers, and education experts.
SIMPAL Project Meeting
As part of the SIMPAL project, a hands-on meeting took place at Primary School No. 32 in Wrocław, offering participants the opportunity to engage directly with the school environment. Discussions with the school principal and the teacher involved highlighted how physical activity has become an essential element of the school’s routine. This shift has been shaped by years of participation in European projects and the effective use of Krokiet and Lama resources, which have enhanced pupils' engagement and well-being, while supporting teachers in their practice.
Participants also observed a learning activity titled Storm Busters, designed to support emotional development through movement in the classroom. The meeting included a review of project progress and future steps, with valuable input from an EACEA representative on reporting and administration.

Global IRTS Project Meeting
ISCA and partners from the Global IRTS project gathered in Wrocław for a working meeting, where they finalized the Global IRTS Consensus – one of the key outcomes developed through extensive discussions and regional meetings.
As part of the programme, participants also took part in a study visit to a local school, meeting with Polish educators and practitioners. This exchange was an opportunity to dive into real-life experiences, challenges, and successes in using sport and physical activity as tools for engagement and social connection.

Connecting through Movement
These highly-productive events in Wrocław demonstrated how local and international initiatives can combine to support movement-based approaches. We’re pleased to have been part of it – and thank Fundacja V4Sport for bringing everyone together.
