ABOUT Hungarian School Sport Federation
"Hungarian School Sport Federation (HSSF) is the biggest civil organisation in the fields of school sport in Hungary. HSSF founded in 1987, went through a major transformation in 2012, extending its mission beyond school sport:
In the field of education:
- supports teachers to implement quality physical education, to promote health-conscious, future-oriented lifestyle through regular PE and fitness assessment,
- develops professional content, methodology, teaching materials, knowledge sharing platforms to help professional work of PE and other teachers,
- organizes in-service trainings for teachers.
Regarding organizing promotional and sport events HSSF
- promotes health-enhancing physical activity, volunteering, social integration through nation-wide communication campaigns, national competition system (Student Olympics, Diákolimpia®), grassroots sport events,
- organized ISF World Schools Championships (Cross-Country 2016, Swimming 2017, Combat Games 2019) and supports Hungarian participation at ISF championships.
In the field of international cooperations, professional content development HSSF
- strengthens its strategic partnership, international cooperations through memberships (ISCA, FIEP, EUPEA, ISF),
- has observer status in the WHO-HEPA Europe working group, while the Hungarian government appointed HSSF’s representative as the Hungarian national HEPA focal point,
- took part in numerous European-level working groups in the field of physical education, grassroots sport and HEPA,
- coordinates and participates in Erasmus+ Sport collaborations, projects and other programmes supported by the European Commission,
- organises and participates at international conferences on quality PE, school sport.
HSSF also develops and operates a national Active School Programme for schools committed to provide age-appropriate quality and quantity of physical activity for all children. Pilot programme launched with 75 schools in September 2022."

- to motivate children to regularly be physically active in order to become healthy and happy adults.
- to help creating health-conscious social culture, foster being conscious about the positive effects of regular physical activity and increasing the commitment to movement.
- to endorse the fulfilment of fun and joyful PE lessons, to foster increasing the prestige of the PE class and to increase the appreciation of the work done by PE teachers.
- to contribute to the professional academic results of PE and their practical utilization through our thorough and active research and development activity."
